Gabriela Portillo

She is a 4th year Aerospace Engineering student. This is what she had to share:
 
Goal: My goal for SHPE is to be able to create new connections with the clubs on campus and also with companies to be able to maximize our resources and keep on having a strong voice in the engineering/STEM community. Another goal is to get to meet as many of our members and make them have a great SHPE experience.
 
Favorite SHPE Memory: Going to my first SHPE nationals in 2022 and being able to meet new people and interact with industry professionals. I also enjoyed SHPE's Christmas potluck!

Favorite hobby: So many!! Gardening at the moment

External Vice President

He is a 4th year Mechanical engineering student. This is what he had to share:

Goal: My goal for SHPE is to make our members feel welcomed and connected to each other. My goal as External VP would be to host at least one professional event each semester and to bring back company tours!

 

Favorite SHPE Memory: My favorite SHPE memory is Family STEM Day. It was great to have planned and executed an event that had not occurred in quite some time.

He is a 4th year Aerospace engineering student. This is what he had to share:

Goal: To enhance the experiences provided by this chapter towards its members. I plan to give students the opportunities to grow in their academic, technical, and professional development through various workshops and programs. In addition, I hope to bring members closer together through fun social events.
 

 
Favorite SHPE Memory: My favorite memory would be the Northrop Grumman day which gave students a chance to learn about the profession after graduation and network with engineers from different experiences.

Favorite hobby: Flying remote controlled model airplanes.

He is currently a 3rd year Mechanical engineering student. This is what she had to share:

Goal: My goal for SHPE is to create a strong community that is inviting for our members. I would also like for us to have events and workshops that provide valuable insight and information for our members.

Favorite SHPE Memory: Favorite SHPE memory was going to RLDC in 2022, I got to meet so many new people.

Favorite hobby: Golf

Goal: My goal for this year as secretary is to help promote our club on social media. Additionally to bring new members and make them feel part of the SHPE Familia.

Favorite SHPE Memory: My favorite SHPE memory was when we collaborated with UCI SHPE to play a soccer tournament.

Elisabeth Ramirez

Chapter Ambassador
 
She is a 3rd year mechanical Engineering student. This is what she had to share:

Hi, my name is Elisabeth and I'm the new CPP Chapter Ambassador for The Society of Hispanic Engineers (SHPE) for the 2023-24 school year. My goal is to hold more outreach events at nearby schools and create a stronger connection to our local community. To accomplish this goal, SHPE Jr and ACE are tasked with creating meaningful events that will help inspire younger generations to pursue a STEM career.

Dr. Omar E. Mora

He is currently an associate professor in CPP’s Civil Engineering Department. This is what he had to share:

Goal: My SHPE goal for the academic year is to increase membership


Favorite SHPE Memory: My favorite SHPE memory was when I participated in the BWW Challenge.  

Favorite Hobby: My favorite hobby is to play and watch soccer.

Goal: Continue to increase our student membership and our presence on campus.
